Adam Carolla’s sexists comments are idiotic and ridiculous

Adam Carolla is a comedian known for his work on the Comedy Central series “The Man Show.” Carolla also hosts one of the most successful podcasts of all time. He is also a blatant sexist.

In a recent interview with The New York Post, Carolla said, “They make you hire a certain number of chicks, and they’re always the least funny on the writing staff. The reason why you know more funny dudes than funny chicks is that dudes are funnier than chicks. If my daughter has a mediocre sense of humor, I’m just gonna tell her, be a staff writer for a sitcom.”

This is idiotic for many reasons, especially in an age where it is becoming more and more apparent that some of the best comedic minds of our generation are women. “Bridesmaids” was not only one of the most talked about comedies last year, it took home multiple Oscar nominations.

It is absurd to make such a broad and ignorant statement as “dudes are funnier than chicks.”

The fact that he used the word “dudes” and “chicks” shows just how childish and ignorant he is.

How can one person declare that half of the population isn’t funny?

Humor is completely subjective, and not something that can be measured legitimately. The fact that people continue to see the cinematic abominations that Adam Sandler releases year after year proves that humor is a subjective thing. To say that someone is “not as funny” as somebody else can only be an opinion.

The HBO series “Girls” just finished its first season and it is easily one of the most talked about television shows in years, mainly due to the unique writing of the show’s star/creator Lena Dunham.

Some critics have even compared Dunham to Woody Allen because of her self-deprecating and sarcastic humor.

This is the worst possible time to make a statement like Carolla’s, because some of the funniest people on TV and movies right now are women.

You know who isn’t on TV?

Adam Carolla

He hasn’t had a successful TV show since “The Man Show” in 2004. That show was meant to be a semi-satire of the simple minds and “dumb” sense of humor that men have, but it seems like Adam Carolla may have taken it a bit too seriously.

Adam Carolla probably wouldn’t make very many people’s list of the funniest “dudes” around these days, so he doesn’t seem like the best candidate to decide who’s funnier than who.

I can pretty much guarantee that there are plenty of “chicks” that most people find funnier than him. Maybe his sitcom should hire a few more women.

Then it would last for more than a season before getting cancelled.
