So I don’t know if you were here for the circus act that a few religious fanatics put on this Monday at the Friendship Walk.
Under the scorching heat of the midday sun, these people were carrying signs with disturbing messages.
From homosexuals to unsubmissive wives, these men condemned all who don’t follow the “righteous” word of Jesus Christ.
Now, if I’m not mistaken, I thought Jesus wanted everyone to love and treat each other with respect, regardless of their beliefs.
Then again, I don’t read the Bible much, so who am I to judge these men, who allegedly live by the word of the best-selling book in the world. Right?
Wrong.
Shouting matches can only get you so far. The men were getting students so furious, one female student had to be held back from attacking one.
When a student who identified himself as a gay male asked one of the men to show where in the Bible it’s written that he is going to hell, the man simply turned his back on the student.
Students usually complain about the lack of entertainment on our campus. Well, here we had first-class “haterism” entertainment (the Urban Dictionary definition for the act of hatin’).
But what surprised me the most was how students united to fight back these lunatics. Even though it was sizzling hot, students didn’t hold back; they let their voices be heard. These men showed us that there are still people who have no tolerance for humans with different beliefs.
We all knew that these men were wrong and we were shocked and appalled by their lack of respect toward humanity.
I saw an invisible chain of solidarity between a bunch of students who usually pass by each other with nothing other than a simple nod.
So bring it on, you haters. Or whatever.
