First baseman named Player of the Week
Shane Peterson earned the Big West Conference Player of the Week award for the second time this season. The first baseman went 10-for-15 with 10 runs and seven RBIs, highlighted by hitting for the cycle in a 10-0 win against Pepperdine. It’s the third career award for Peterson.
Softball
Third basewoman honored by Big West
Jennifer Griffin was named co-Big West Player of the Week along with CS Northridge’s Amanda Peek. Griffin batted a staggering .727 with two home runs on the road against UC Santa Barbara to help the 49ers take over first place in the conference. She leads the Big West with a .484 battering average. It’s the second time Griffin has won the award this season.
