Under Proposition 33, drivers who have earned a discount for holding continuous car insurance coverage for up to five years would be allowed to transfer to a new insurance provider and keep the coverage discount they earned with their previous provider.
Drivers should be able to switch insurers and keep their coverage. It will increase competition between insurance companies and help drive down prices, which is why the Daily 49er endorses Prop. 33, though the editorial board was far from unanimous on this decision.
