University Police ordered students and staff to evacuate the University Library last night after a suspicious package was found in the Academic Services building.
An announcement over the intercom at 9:37 p.m. informed students that University Police requested everyone to evacuate the building immediately.
Students left with little explanation.
“It’s our right as students to know what’s going on so we feel secure,” Daniel Cho, a Cal State Long Beach psychology major, said.
Seven Long Beach Police Department cars lined the south turnaround near the McIntosh building and yellow tape as well as more University Police officers could be seen around the Academic Services building near the east side of the library.
University Police redirected students away the building and toward Parking Lot 6 while students gathered in front of the library asking what was happening and why they were being asked to clear the area.
