Students to hold multicultural event in USU

ASI will host the fourth annual “One World: International Fusion,” an event in celebration of multiculturalism, on March 24 in the University Student Union ballrooms.

All of the cultural organizations on campus that comprise the ASI Cultural Council are affiliated with the event.

These include the Capoeira Club, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity and the Philippino American Association, among others.

Performances will be held that are specific to each organization’s respective culture.

There will be singing, drumming and dances from the Capoeira Club, the Cal State Long Beach Breakers and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, the 2011 step show champions.

Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc. will also perform a salute.

ASI secretary for cultural diversity Ana Jaime said in an email that members of Alpha Phi Omega have volunteered to help facilitate the event.

“We also partnered with the Nikkei Student Association to accept donations at this event, which will be donated to Japan,” she said.
