Women should be on the front lines fighting alongside men

I get it, men and women are different. Whether it is our genetic make-up or physical attributes, men have always thrived on power and superiority.

The idea that a woman is less than a man in regards of capability and endurance is absurd. After reading an article outlining the many reasons why women should not be allowed to pursue combat roles, one of which being that “a woman is NOT a man,” I came to the conclusion that this argument is invalid.

While there are thousands of men who dedicate their lives to fighting for our country, many women are still attempting to do the same. To bar off an entire group of capable individuals is to work backwards.

What is this, the 18th century? Have women not earned their right to stand and fall for their country?

The question posed here is, should a soldier’s sex determine his or her capability in the field? Or should it be based solely on his or her performance?

Throughout history, women have fought for equality and the right to hold their own.

Each soldier is used for a designated task, given that the soldier is capable of performing it. At the end of the day, not one soldier is dispensable.

When one is killed in battle, the mourning is the same no matter the sex, age or ethnicity.

We forget that apart from being mothers, our women are firefighters, police officers and soldiers.

A new image has been born with today’s generation of women, and apart from being caring and nurturing, women today have learned to be strong and stand as tall as their male counterparts, if not taller. I don’t think people realize we’re breeding a different kind of woman, and she is growing strong within the country; therefore, women should be able to fight for the country.

Many argue that if women are allowed in combat, they must be treated the same as males, which implies that women should also be included in the draft.

As of today, we have an all-volunteer military. The argument stands now that if women are allowed on the front lines, they should also be required to register for the draft.

If women are required to register, the end result would be equality for all individuals, which is what we aim for.

This country was built with the collaboration amongst individuals, fighting for progress. Men will always need help from women as women will always need help from men.

If we live in a country of moral principle at all, we should set aside our male dominance and let women fight alongside men.
