Long Beach State water polo player Nick Rascon has been named to the USA Men’s Junior National Team and will participate in the 2011 Federation Internationale De Natation (FINA) Junior World Championships in Volos, Greece, from August 27 to September 4.
Rascon earned honorable mention All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honors as a true freshman last season after leading the 49ers with 37 goals. He finished 13th in the MPSF in goals, averaging 1.68 per game.
He also registered goals in 20 of LBSU’s 22 games, including a season-high five against Fresno Pacific.
Rascon was also a member of the 2008 and 2009 U.S. Junior National Teams. He helped the 2009 team to an eighth-place finish at the Junior World Championships in Sibenik, Croatia, and helped the junior team to a first-place finish at the Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2008.
