After receiving two independent reports of shots heard at 1:19 p.m., University Police conducted a search in Education buildings 1, 2 and the University Library, University Police Captain Scott Brown said.
It was determined that there are no credible threats to Cal State Long Beach, University Police Chief Fernando Solorzano said.
Officers were dispatched to the south area of campus, and Education buildings 1 and 2 were evacuated, but have since been reopened, Brown said. The search then extended to the University Library, Brown said.
Brown said there are currently no suspects.
Kevin Peanh, a single-subject credential student who had class in the Education building, was one of the evacuated students.
“I heard something,” Peanh said. “It was a while before they told us to evacuate.”
According to Brown, the buildings were evacuated at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Alex Argame, a sophomore pre-nursing major, saw armed police leaving the University Library at the time of the evacuation.
“I was heading to the library and saw two cops come out with black rifles,” Argame said.
