The Irvine Police Department has identified the suspect murderer of a former Long Beach State women’s basketball player as former Los Angeles Police Department officer and U.S. Navy reservist Christopher Jordan Dorner.
Monica Quan, 28, and her fiancé Keith Lawrence, 27, were found fatally shot in a parked car in a parking structure in Irvine Sunday night, according to the Irvine Police Department. Quan played basketball for LBSU from 2003 to 2005 before transferring to Concordia College in Irvine, according to LBSU Assistant Media Relations Director Andrea Ohta.
Before her death, Quan was serving as an assistant coach to the women’s basketball team at Cal State Fullerton.
Police Chief of the City of Irvine Dave Maggard said in a press statement that Dorner is believed to be armed and dangerous. Support from the LAPD, FBI and U.S. Marshals has been called to capture Dorner, Maggard said.
Dorner’s last known address is 4931 Sharon Dr. in La Palma, Maggard said. He is described as six feet tall, 270 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes, Maggard said.
The suspected vehicle that Dorner drives is a blue 2005 Nissan Titan pickup with the California license plate 7X03191.
If Dorner is seen, Maggard suggests calling 911. If any tips are known about his whereabouts, Maggard suggests calling the tip line (949) 724 – 7192 or email ipdcrimetips@cityofirvine.org.
