Choice USA presented Self-Love on campus this week, promoting body positivity. Each day a different event took place in honor of celebrating a week to love yourself and body. Member of the Choice USA executive board, senior Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies major Amber Melvin said, “We are here to promote body positivity and self care, in order to counteract the negative messages we get on a daily basis from media and social institutions.”

During the Body Positivity Safe Zone Party on the Speakers Platform on Wednesday, students were attracted to self-love promoting activities.  Students were also able to “plant seeds of positivity,” have their bodies painted with reflective positive words and images, and learn a few belly dancing moves. Other self-love promoting activities included a table with “free compliments,” shameless selfie mirrors bordered with positive messages and a scale that weighs you not in numbers but with positive terms. Students were also able to write promises to themselves, promoting positive self-love and learn about their rights in society. Other booths at the event included CSULB Student Health Services and Project Choice both promoting sexual awareness and  information.
