The eighth annual Jewlicious festival at the Queen Mary appears to be a worthy event to attend if you’re in the Long Beach area this weekend. This includes many people of the Jewish faith making the pilgrimage to attend.
Participants will get to feast on food, enjoy non-stop entertainment and participate in cultural seminars. The event is organized by Rabbi Yonah, Long Beach Hillel, and JConnectLA who encourage Cal State Long Beach students to attend. Students can attend the three day festivities for $18 by using the code “gobeach” when purchasing tickets from the Jewlicious website.
“We are very excited about this years Jewlicious 8.0 and the key note speaker Mayim Bialik, who is a phenomenal actress on ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and the ‘Big Bang Theory,'” said Phyllis Kenigsberg, programming associate at Beach Hillel.
There will be comedic acts from Todd Barry of “Flight of the Conchords” and Moshe Kasher, followed by headlining reggae/ska/punk band The Aggrolites on Saturday night.
Last year, Jewish comedian Kasher gave a hilarious comedic routine featuring circumcision and dreidel jokes, which had a large audience bursting into laughter.
This year is the first time the festival will be held at the Queen Mary, and past years it was held at the Alpert Jewish Community Center on East Willow Street.
The festival will be held from Feb. 24 through Feb. 26 aboard the Queen Mary. For more information, visit jewliciousfestival.com.
