Another finals week is upon us, and it’s time to start wearing out the coffee maker and camping out in the library. Of course, you’ll also be constantly distracted by your smartphone while trying to study. You might as well download some apps that are actually useful to you while you study.
Grades 2: (free)
This app allows you to add all the past assignments from your classes and the percentage that they’re worth in the class. It will tell you exactly what grade you need on the final in order to get the grade you want in the class. It is extremely easy to use and the layout is very simple. It’s also worth keeping for next semester so you can plan your assignments all semester long.
Flashcards+: (free)
This app allows you to create decks of flashcards for any subject, making memorizing facts or equations a breeze. There are a lot of flashcard apps out there, but this one is both free and the easiest to use. It is perfect for any class that requires a lot of memorization for the final.
Study Buddy: (99 cents)
This app costs 99 cents, but it is one of the most useful college apps on the market. Basically you set an amount of time that you are going to be studying and the app records how long you’ve been studying and allows you to take a certain amount of timed study breaks. The app then records how efficiently you are studying by graphing the amount of studying you are doing in comparison to your breaks. This is a great way to make sure you don’t wander off to Facebook every 5 minutes while studying.
Alarm Clock HD: (free)
Having trouble waking up? This is an alarm clock on steroids. Not only does it display Facebook and Twitter feeds on the clock screen for when you’re trying to fall asleep, but it also lets you set the alarm to music from your phone, and has a sleep timer that plays podcasts and audiobooks to help you go to sleep. Plus, it has a the classic look of an old digital alarm clock.
Kbeach: (free)
Did you know that our campus radio station has its own app? With the Kbeach application, you can tune in to our campus radio station at any time so you have something to listen to when you need a break from all that studying.
Sleep Machine Lite: (free)
When you need a few hours of shut-eye before the big test, this app might help. It plays different kinds of white noise and ambient sound and even allows you to mix and match sounds. It’s perfect for insomniacs who need something to turn their brain off to.
