I am writing in response to an article titled “Knott’s Berry Farm can be a hellish place for employees” that ran in the April 18 issue of the Daily Forty-Niner. I was surprised by the article. I had worked at Knott’s Berry Farm for five years in the health services department. I’m not sure who the author worked for, but for me, Knott’s was one of my best experiences with an employer.
Knott’s was always fair with me as long as I followed the rules. He didn’t. When someone is hired, he or she is told of the expectations of the job; they expect no more and no less. It sounds like the author had poor work ethic and expected something for nothing.
As a general manager, now (at another company) I see him as a person I would regret hiring. He makes everyone else’s job harder in the long run, and makes it very difficult to hire a young person. Why should I?
People like the author do nothing but run me out of business. How did the author of the article help Knott’s or his fellow employees? He didn’t. He just made it a little harder for the next guy. Oh, but you did get a car out of the deal – great.
