This weekend Las Vegas won’t just be a mix of endless gambling, drunken marriage ceremonies and booze. With the 2006 Vegoose Festival kicking off Halloween weekend, it will return again this year with an awesome lineup of rock, jazz, hip-hop and alternative music.
The festival will be spread out for two whole days, held at the Sam Boyd Stadium, and will feature art exhibits, performance artists and a giant pumpkin.
The lineup consists of music greats such as Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Fiona Apple, The Killers, The Raconteurs, Ben Folds, The Mars Volta, The Watson Twins, Damian Marley, The Roots and many more.
Jack White and Brendan Benson, from The Raconteurs, sat down to discuss playing the Vegoose Festival this year. “I’m not a good person to ask about the festival environment because I’ve never actually been to one,” White said. “I’ve only played at them.”
White then discussed The Raconteurs’ performances since the band began playing festivals.
“The only thing I can say is every [Raconteurs] and tour show so far has been different from the last and that we hope to keep it that way,” White said. “That’s what’s keeping us motivated to keep pushing harder and harder at what we’ve started doing. Some of these songs have become so explosive and so much longer that they’re very much different songs than what they started out as when we recorded the album.”
Because this is a Halloween festival, many artists are expected to dress up or have some other Halloween-themed set.
Jenny Lewis from the Watson Twins said the band had planned something for the Halloween show. “We have been working with our merch girl, who has designed dresses for us based on the idea that I had based on a dress that Tina Turner wore,” Lewis said. “And so we’ve got some long gowns and some sparkly dresses as well, which is kind of like a girl’s dream come true – to be able to play a show and get dressed up.”
The Dollhouse Salon and Costume Shop will also be at the festival this year, so all attendees will be able to put their scariest faces forward, with the salon’s professional makeup artists, hair stylists and wardrobe personals.
The gates to the festival will open at 11 a.m. on Oct. 28 and 29. A two-day pass is priced at $146.50 and a one-day pass is $75. Both tickets also include extra service fees.
