Letter to the Editor – One reader identifies with Macri’s article on free time

Just two days ago, I read an article in the Oct. 12 issue of the Daily-Forty Niner, titled “People fear free time, need to enjoy silence” by Daniel Macri and I was really surprised how good the article was.

I really liked it and he is the first person who thinks this way that I have met here in United States.

I have been here in U.S. for only two months and people are so different. From the first day I came here, I wished to met someone normal, who sees similar things as I do.

It is really good article. I think people are always complaining about how busy they are, how little free time they have, but nobody wants to be by themselves, to relax, read a book, or just look at trees, birds, nature, just breath.

I haven’t gotten a cell phone because my phone does not work here across the Atlantic, but I am so happy that I left it at home; thousands of miles away.

I like to be by myself, to have time to read a book or just sit on the grass and look around and breath.

I just want to say, I know what Daniel wrote about, and I want to thank him for writing his article in the newspaper because now I know that somebody normal (for me) exists in this different world.
