The 49ers ended a three-game losing streak thanks to Peter Pappageorge’s career-high 23 points.
LBSU (2-3) took advantage of its first game against an unranked team in nearly two weeks by defeating Fresno State on the road. The ‘Niners overcame an early eight-point deficit to lead by three at the half. The Bulldogs (3-2) didn’t let LBSU pull away until the very end, when sophomore point guard Mike Caffey hit a pair shots to give the ‘Niners a permanent lead.
Pappageorge led four 49ers who reached double digits in points. His 60 percent shooting and perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line helped LBSU to its highest shooting percentage (43.6) since its opening game against North Alabama (45.0).
The ‘Niners will play their next game on Thursday at Loyola Marymount.
