After the St. Louis Rams versus San Diego Chargers game last Sunday, a message was clearly made to the NFL and Rams current owner, Stan Kroenke: The Rams belong in Los Angeles.
The Rams need to return as soon as possible, which could be as soon as next season.
According to Rams beat writer for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Jim Thomas, the Chargers sold over 20,000 tickets for Los Angeles-based Rams fans during the Chargers-Rams game this Sunday.
Once Sunday came, the Los Angeles-based fans definitely didn’t disappoint. With Qualcomm Stadium filled with over 40 percent Rams fans, those in attendance succeeded in making a statement.
The Los Angeles-based fans lost their team to St. Louis after the 1994 season. The Los Angeles Rams were struggling and owner Georgia Frontiere couldn’t find a stadium for her team in Los Angeles.
The Rams found a home in St. Louis and also found success as they beat the Tennessee Titans in the 1999 Super Bowl and made an appearance in the 2002 Super Bowl.
After over 10 straight losing seasons, the support for the Rams in St. Louis has begun to die out. With the recent success of the St. Louis Cardinals, it seems the city has moved on from the team that once brought them joy. St. Louis no longer deserves the Rams, and the city is making that clear at home games.
Over the past couple years, opposing teams’ fans have taken over the Edward Jones Dome, which has been quite the embarrassment for Rams fans. Yes, the Los Angeles Rams fans in the early 1990s also began to not show up to games after countless losing seasons, but they deserve a second chance. Everyone in life deserves a second chance to prove that they have changed, and so do Rams fans.
With the Rams being able to opt out of the Edward Jones Dome lease at the end after this season, the Los Angeles fan base is making a statement. They want their team back and the time for relocation is now.
Is Kroenke slowly dropping hints that he might move the team back?
Kroenke is no stranger to Southern California. Kroenke, who also owns the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and Colorado Rapids, has a mansion above the hills in Malibu and recently purchased 60 acres of land near the refurbished Forum in Inglewood.
Coincidence? It’s clearly a lot big enough to build a stadium, and Kroenke knows a thing or two about real estate.
The Rams belong in Los Angeles and not in St. Louis. The team was never St. Louis’ team.
St. Louis is clearly now a baseball town and not a football town.
It’s clear that Los Angeles wants a football team in its market and the Rams are the right team to relocate. Bring the Rams home where they belong!
carlos the other thing you forgot to mention in your good article from back then was the only reason fan support dwindled in the early 90’s was they got fed up with the evil woman for trading away Eric Dickerson because after that, they were never the same team anymore.she was not trying to win anymore so she could claim she had bad fan support and move the team so that was why they stopped showing up.
I doubt anyone there at BBTLA wants to talk with me anymore but if there is a few that do,i am at spideynkc@yahoo.com i stopped going there not cause i wanted to but because facebook disabled my account and i cant post on FB anymore.
