Gallery “Odd Things” by Corrie Wille, Yoon Hwang and Althea Fultz showcases a broad range of work that the three believe to be very dissimilar in style. Due to the vast difference in artistic practices, the trio thought that the gallery would convey how ceramics could be used to create individualistic styles.
- Althea Fultz’s “Split Bottle” features various ceramic sculptures inside a larger ceramic vase, inspired by Minoan and Crete pottery.
- A portion of Fultz’s “Still Life with Almonds” which displays white, black and grey etchings in ceramic sculptures. Fultz spontaneously named this piece when thinking about how her friends had often commented that the sculpture looked like almonds in a bowl.
- Another angle from “Split Bottle,” showcasing the engravings on the outside portion of the vase.
- Gallery “Odd Things” by Corrie Wille, Yoon Hwang and Althea Fultz is featured in the School of Art student galleries and is available throughout the week.
- “White Bowl with Grey Objects” is a piece that Fultz describes as originally “vulnerable.” When she had first created the piece, she had placed the ceramic sculptures in a different way and thought that it looked more empty until adding more unique sculptures to fill the void.
- Taking a full 48 hours to complete, Fultz’s piece “White Urn with Stick” stands tall in the “Odd Things” gallery.
