Launched in February, this is the first stand-alone publication from the Los Angeles Times Media Group tailored exclusively to hip and young urbanites in L.A.

Short easy-to-read articles, colorful designs and playful banter make the magazine a handy must-read for those people who need to be in the know. The new mag reads as if its writers live and breathe trendy entertainment and their opinions seem rational and reliable.

Recurring features like “Ask a Comic” give insight to popular comedians like Sarah Silverman, as they answer questions readers submit online.

Like an addictive tabloid with the latest highlights of celebrity stints and hotspots, pictures of the weekend warriors of Hollywood scatter Metromix L.A. pages with insightful blurbs of random gossip heard around the city.

In a scene obsessed with what’s in and out, this magazine will do the legwork for you. Metromix L.A. reviews the latest clubs, restaurants, movies, bars and events without sleezy ads of adult entertainment that can be found in the pages of the OC Weekly and LA Weekly magazines.

In the last issue, Jared Gold, a fashion designer who operates label the Black Chandelier, discusses Fashion Week and the splash he made during it.

With an initial circulation of 100,000 copies, Metromix L.A. will be distributed every Wednesday on L.A. college campuses and in grocery stores and racks throughout the major L.A. neighborhoods, including L.A. metro, westside, and South Bay communities.
