A student’s purse was stolen from her car in the Parking Lot 1 at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, according to University Police Captain Scott Brown. The student saw someone putting their hand through the car window to grab the purse, Brown said. The victim followed the suspect until University Police could detain her, and the suspect, Sasha Barnard, 30, was arrested for burglary, Brown said.
Dogfight videos on flash drive turns out to be research
The Lost and Found Office contacted University Police on Tuesday after dog-fighting videos were found on a lost flash drive, Brown said. University Police contacted the owner of the flash drive and concluded that the videos were found online for a research project on football player Michael Vick, Brown said.
Non-student disturbs psychology classes
A Cal State Long Beach professor contacted University Police about a female non-student who was preaching about the gospel in the psychology department and disturbing classroom sessions on Tuesday, according to Brown. The non-student was asked by University Police to go to Student Life and Development before preaching on campus, Brown said.
$1,200 bike stolen from LA building 1 bike rack
A student’s black 30-speed road bike was stolen from the Liberal Arts buildings bike rack on Monday, according to Brown. The bike was secured with a bike lock, but the thief was still able to cut through the metal lock, Brown said. Brown said he recommends students to ride cheap bikes to school because any lock can be cut.
iPad and headphones stolen from dorm room
A student’s iPad and headphones were stolen from Beachside College on Wednesday, according to Brown. The student waited two days to report the stolen items, so little investigation could be done, Brown said.
