Jonas Brothers coming to CSULB baseball field

Singer Nick Jonas, of the Jonas Brothers, tries to field a ball in center field during batting practice as the Texas Rangers prepare to play the Kansas City Royals at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas, on May 8, 2010.

The Jonas Brothers are headed to Blair Field in Long Beach Sept. 19, for their annual “Road Dogs” softball tour.

The game will be hosted at Cal State Long Beach’s baseball field across the street from Wilson High School. It is just one of many stops while they are on their national sold-out music tour.

The idea of playing recreational softball came about in 2009 when the members of the pop group decided to take a small break between shows. The softball games are also for fans who live near the areas they were scheduled to perform.

The games are set up where the three members of the group, along with their road crew, play opposite their corporate sponsors for a chance to show off their skills.

The brothers will be teaming up with All-State driver’s insurance in hopes of raising awareness about the consequences of texting and driving.

Not only will fans get a chance to watch the group outside of their grueling performance schedule, but those who attend the event will also be able to interact with the band in trivia games and other scheduled events.

Gates at Blair Field will open at 11 a.m. The game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are free and limited to first come, first served. Tickets can be picked up at the Walter Pyramid box office beginning at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
