The strike called for today by the UAW Local 4123 of the United Auto Workers, a union representing Cal State University academic student employees, was postponed late Tuesday.
State Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg will meet with the UAW and the CSU to help the two groups reach an agreement for the union’s upcoming contract. The strike, which was to begin at 7 a.m., may still be possible depending on the result of the meetings.
The senator has supported the union’s request for fee waivers and addressed the issue in a letter to CSU, according to the UAW website.
