Samantha Diaz is a third year journalism major and has worked for the Daily 49er for nearly three years. She started as a staff writer, then worked her way up to Arts and Life Editor and is now Managing Editor for the paper. She has covered city council for the city of Long Beach, arts in the community and Division I sports at LBSU. She placed first for best headline portfolio in the California College Media Awards in 2018 and second in 2019. After growing up in Chino (not Chino Hills), she moved to Long Beach to attend LBSU and plans to cover professional sports for a daily print newspaper in the near future. Samantha is an adamant Lakers fan, intermediate Dodgers fan and budding Rams fan (i.e. bandwagoner).
