Yo dawg, American Idol needs to give Nikki Minaj the boot

If you haven’t seen the leaked video of Nikki Minaj cussing out Mariah Carey on the set of American Idol, well, you probably have a life or something.

Nevertheless, the video is all over the Internet of the two new judges on American Idol giving it to each other in what can only be described as a Jerry Springer style of confrontation.

Allegedly, it was all over a disagreement on a contestant. The producers of the show had to cut the confrontational day short to give the two women space and time to cool off.

This video comes shortly after rumors of two the not getting along hit the web. The divas coexisting on the 13th season of Idol has become a major concern on set.

Skeptics, on the other hand, are calling this a publicity stunt for attention.

The show’s popularity has fizzled down in the last few years, while similar shows like The Voice and X-Factor have grabbed the spotlight.

The truth is, however, there would probably be no Nikki Minaj without Mariah Carey paving the road for her.

Carey is one of the bestselling female artists of all time, with over 200 million records sold. She also has the most No. 1 hits of any solo artist, beating Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson.

Not to mention, she’s survived in an industry for more than 20 years now, while many-hit-wonders have come and gone.

Carey was one of the first mega-stars to start featuring female rap artists in her music when female rap hadn’t hit mainstream yet.

Songs like Carey’s remix to “Heartbreaker,” featuring female rap artists Missy Eliot and Da Brat were hard to come by at the time.

You would think Minaj, being a female rapper herself, would at the very least have some respect for those who opened doors for her.

Instead, she’s videotaped speaking to Carey as though she has absolutely no respect for her whatsoever.

Carey isn’t the first female artist Minaj has gone after either.

Rap icon Lil Kim, who Minaj is a modern replica of, has also taken hits from the rapper.

Anything Minaj is doing, Lil Kim pretty much already did.

Yet, instead of being grateful to the Lil Kim for again paving the road for her success, she pretty much crapped on her too.

With this much drama this early on in production and Minaj being this disrespectful of the women that came before her, her being on the show all together needs to be reconsidered.

Carey brings experience to the table that Minaj will be lucky to ever obtain. She’s a fairly new artist, so the “advice” she can give contestants can’t be much. She is clearly making the set uncomfortable for everyone else.

Minaj needs to be fired if FOX wants production to go smoothly. Although the fight was very entertaining, if it’s happening as frequently as it’s being reported, nothing will get done and there will be no show all together.
