Men’s basketball
Who: Hawai’i (23-4, 12-2)

Need to know: The Rainbow Warriors have only lost twice in the conference, but one of those losses came against the 49ers. LBSU (17-13, 11-4) got a 78-64 win on Jan. 30 inside the Stan Sheriff Center, increasing its all-time series lead to 11-8.
Hawai’i averages the most points per game in the conference with 78.4. A trio of players, junior Stefan Jankovic, sophomore Aaron Valdes and junior Roderick Bobbitt, lead Hawai’i with 16.3, 14.5 and 13.1 points per game, respectively.
Baseball
Who: Nebraska (2-4)
When: Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
Where: Blair Field
Need to know: Long Beach State (5-3) hasn’t faced Nebraska on the baseball diamond since 1984; LBSU took that series against the Cornhuskers 2-1. Both teams met only once before the three-game series in 1982. The game ended in a 5-3 loss for the 49ers.
In only 13 at bats this season, senior infielder Jake Placzek is hitting .462 with two home runs, three doubles, six RBIs and six runs scored.
Men’s volleyball
Who: Mount Olive (8-4, 7-3)
When: Friday at 2 p.m. PST
Where: Rec Hall, University Park, Pennsylvania
Need to know: No. 1 Long Beach State (15-2, 12-2) takes on Mount Olive for the first time in school history. The Trojans play Division II volleyball in the Conference Carolinas. Mount Olive’s played twice against Division I opponents this season. The Trojans defeated Saint Francis 3-0 on Jan. 8 then lost to Penn State 3-0 on Feb. 6.
Who: Penn State (12-2, 6-0)
When: Saturday at 4:30 p.m. PST
Where: Rec Hall, University Park, Pennsylvania
Need to know: The 49ers and Nittany Lions are familiar foes. LBSU leads the all-time series against Penn State 16-7. The last time both teams met, Penn State took the 3-0 win inside the Walter Pyramid on March 14, 2015.
Junior hitter Chris Nugent leads the Lions with 4.20 kills per set and Taylor Hammond directs the offense with 11.49 assists per set.
Softball
Who: No. 19 Arizona State (15-2)
When: Thursday at 10 a.m.
Where: Anderson Family Field, Fullerton
Need to know: ASU leads the all-time series against LBSU 18-10-1. The Sun Devils haven’t lost to the 49ers (8-6) since March 10, 2000, winning seven games in row in the process. The last time both teams met, ASU got the 8-0 win in five innings on May 21, 2011.
Junior infielder Chelsea Gonzales leads the Sun Devils with a .467 batting average, 22 RBIs and six home runs.
Who: No. 2 Michigan (12-2)
When: Thursday at 1 p.m.
Where: Anderson Family Field, Fullerton
Need to know: After Michigan’s 10-4 win over the 49ers on Sunday, the all-time series is tied at 4.
Senior infielder Sierra Romero went 2-4 with four RBIs and senior outfielder Sierra Lawrence went 2-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored against the 49ers. LBSU junior right-hander Christina Clermont pitched 5.1 innings against the Wolverines, allowing nine earned runs.
Who: Northwestern (7-7)
When: Friday at 3 p.m.
Where: Anderson Family Field, Fullerton
Need to know: The 49ers lead the all-time series against the Wildcats 13-6, however the last time they faced each other Northwestern got the 5-2 win on Feb. 15, 2015 as part of the Easton Desert Classic.
Senior infielder Andrea Filler leads NU with .444 batting average and 21 RBIs. Senior pitcher/designated hitter Amy Letourneau ranks second with 19 RBIs and leads her team with six home runs.
Who: San Jose State (5-11)
When: Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Anderson Family Field, Fullerton
Need to know: LBSU and SJSU hold a historically even series. The 49ers lead the all-time series 30-25, but have split their last 10 games against the Spartans dating back to 1998.
Senior outfielder Jessica Madrid leads all Spartans with a .383 batting average and sophomore outfielder Brittany Abacherli leads with 16 RBIs, three home runs and 12 runs scored.
Who: North Carolina (8-6)
When: Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
Where: Anderson Family Field, Fullerton
Need to know: The 49ers and the Tar Heels have only played each other once before they meet on Saturday. LBSU leads the series 1-0 after taking a 6-0 win at home on March 10, 2012.
North Carolina is riding a four-game winning streak heading into the Judi Garman Classic. Junior pitcher/utility Kendra Lynch allowed just one run in 15.1 innings pitched and went 7-11 with a double and two home runs in that stretch.
Who: Wisconsin (7-7)
When: Sunday at 9 a.m.
Where: LBSU Softball Complex
Need to know: The all-time series between the 49ers and the Badgers is tied 3-3 with Wisconsin taking the last matchup, 5-0, on March 8, 2014.
The Badgers are heading into the weekend having lost six of their last nine games. Junior catcher Chloe Miller leads Wisconsin with a .372 batting average,19 RBIs and three home runs.
