Assault occurs near dormitories

Campus police have provided this artist rendering of the suspect.

A female student was accosted outside her car in Lot 14C, near the Parkside Commons dormitories, at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to University Police.

The student left the dorms to retrieve something from her car when a man in his 20s forcefully grabbed her arm. After pulling away from him, the assailant went into the front passenger side of a waiting car and another suspect drove the car away.

“The thing we want to stress is first and foremost that the victim wasn’t hurt,” said Stanley Skipworth, the captain of University Police Department. “[The suspect] withdrew from the victim when she pulled away.”

After the assault, the victim returned to the dormitory area where she notified residence staff of the attempted kidnapping.

The first suspect is described as being between 5′ 5” and 6′ tall with a stocky build and short, dark hair. The assailant’s car was described as a ’90s model black Honda Civic with a California license plate beginning with the number four.

Police do not currently suspect a student, though Skipworth noted that “the car approached not abruptly” and that the suspects seemed casual in their demeanor.
