The Tigers (4-3) limited their turnovers in the first half, only coughing up seven against the high-pressure defense of the 49ers. Pacific took a 33-32 lead into the half thanks to 10 points from senior forward Erin Butler, on 3-for-7 shooting from behind the three point line, and eight points from sophomore guard GeAnna Luaulu-Summers.
The 49ers provided a balanced effort as nine different players put points on the scoreboard after two quarters. Sophomore guard Gigi Hascheff led all LBSU scorers with six points in the first half.
In the second half, LBSU began to pull away entering the fourth quarter with a 53-44 lead. Gertz led all 49ers in the third with five points. In the final quarter, LBSU maintained the pace and held off any potential surge from the Tigers to leave with the eight-point win.
Sawyer led the way with eight points in the second half. Pacific’s senior guard Hailie Eackles came alive in the second half with 12 points. She led all scorers with 17 points in the game.
