Students sign to legalize marijuana

Marijuana advocate Keenan Jackson asks a student to sign his petition for legalizing marijuana in California.

Keenan Jackson has collected over 400 signatures in favor of legalizing marijuana from Cal State Long Beach students in a span of four days.

The petition signatures are for a ballot measure to decriminalize and legalize the possession and consumption of recreational marijuana in California.

The petition needs 585,407 verified signatures of registered voters to be placed on the ballot for the November general election. The required number of signatures is equal to 8 percent of the votes cast in the most recent gubernatorial race and would amend California’s constitution.
