Four LBSU athletes given national recognition

For the fourth year in a row, senior middle blocker Alexis Crimes has been named a first-team, all-West Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, making Crimes the first 49er to win the honor four years in a row. Joining her this year for the first time is senior blocker Michaela Hasalikova, being named an AVCA Honorable Mention.

Crimes and Hasalikova were two key components of the 49er offense this season. Both were Big West Conference selections, and led in blocks, hitting and kills.

Two Dirtbags were named to the Wallace Award watch list this week as well. Junior shortstop Danny Espinosa and junior RHP Bryan Shaw were both named as players to watch this season. The Wallace Award is given annually to the nation’s top player.
