University Library to be closed Sunday for ’emergency electric repairs’

The University Library will be closed this Sunday, Sept. 30 to make “emergency electric repairs.” The repairs are not related to current renovation efforts, library officials said.

Joel Caytron, project manager for the Kemp Bros. Construction Co., which is doing the Phase III renovations of the library, said he did not know what was going on Sunday and would not comment further.

Some staff and library administrators, who asked to be remained anonymous, said the situation is not critical, but that workers are repairing the problems now while there is a minimal chance to affect students.

“We would hate to have to close during the middle of the semester or some time in the future and interrupt the students’ education,” one source said.

Some staff likened the situation to a worn fan belt on a car.

The library will resume regular hours Monday, Oct. 1.
