POW! WOW! Long Beach kicks off week-long art event

Muralist Jason Keam works on his mural for the POW! WOW! Mural Festival.

Los Angeles holds an abundance of museums, street art and pop up installations. This rampant art bug has infected Long Beach as well — in the form of the POW! WOW! Long Beach 2018 Mural Festival.

The POW! WOW! Long Beach is an week-long and city-wide art event began Sunday and will go through June 30.

The mural festival, which is in its fourth year includes everything from a screening of the documentary, “Obey Giant,” a guided bike tour of the murals around Long and an art exhibition.

A video on the official POW! WOW! Long Beach Instagram described the the mural festival as a “week long extravaganza” and it showcases local and international artists’ murals.

Most of the events are free and only require a reservation for a ticket so those in attendance are able to enjoy the festivities for little to no money.

A full schedule of events can be found on their website.
