Three comedy podcasts to tickle your funny bone

Scott Aukerman interviews Ed Helms in the TV version of his podcast "Comedy Bang Bang"

How Did This Get Made?

Every two weeks actor and comedian Paul Scheer (The League, NTSF:SD:SUV) joins Jason Mantzoukas (The League) and June Diane Raphael (NTSF:SD:SUV) to discuss movies that are so bad they’re good. Past episodes have featured Nicolas Cage classics like “Season of the Witch” and “Ghost Rider,” inexplicably popular trash like the Twilight saga, and old movies that just haven’t held up like Jaws: the Revenge. They don’t simply bash the movie, they legitimately break it down and try to figure out how it could have possibly been made. Easily one of the most entertaining film podcasts out there, this show is a must listen for any movie buffs or comedy fans.

Comedy Bang Bang

Veteran comedy writer and stand-up comedian Scott Aukerman’s show is a mixed bag of improv comedy, interview, theater and complete insanity. For every episode, Scott is joined by a “co-host,” a.k.a. one of his fellow stand-up comedians who helps him interview and chat with a guest who is a comedian, actor or a musician.  About midway through the show they are joined by another comedian who is playing an improve comedy character who is treated as if he is an actual person. This makes for one of the strangest and funniest podcasts of all time. Frequent guests include Zach Galifinakis, Judd Apatow, Amy Poehler and other hilarious comedians.

Never Not Funny

This show is the granddaddy of American comedy podcasts. Unlike the other shows on this list, this talk show is as simple as its title. Stand-up comedian Jimmy Pardo and his sidekick Matt Belknap welcome another comedian as a guest and just sit around a table and talk. There are no gimmicks, games, segments or topics. This show thrives on its host Jimmy Pardo’s ability for rapid-fire comedy and almost encyclopedic knowledge of (mostly 80s) pop culture, music and movies. The fact that this show is as entertaining as any other without any of the bells and whistles is a testament to the skill of the people involved. It’s just simply never not funny.
