Funny feeds to follow during the next debate

It’s important to stay informed about the presidential candidates with the election coming up, and watching the debates is the first step. This Thursday, Vice President Joe Biden will go head-to-head with Representative Paul Ryan. However, watching the debate doesn’t have to be completely serious; plenty of comedians will be live-tweeting their thoughts and observations about the debate as it happens. Here are some of the best feeds to follow during Thursday’s event.

@AlbertBrooks

Comedian and filmmaker Albert Brooks joined Twitter recently and has quickly become one of the most clever and hilarious online personalities out there. His tweets about the last debate were more observational than political, but they were great nonetheless.

@BillMaher

When it comes to politics, there is no comedian more scathing or brutally honest than Bill Maher. His HBO talk show “Real Time with Bill Maher” is both comedic and insightful, and is often more hard-hitting than anything on The Daily Show or The Colbert Report.

@WKamauBell

W. Kamau Bell is the host of new FX comedy talk show called “Totally Biased.” The show lives up to its name, and his tweets are no different. He was very active during the last debate, and he is definitely worth checking out on Thursday.

@SarahKSilverman

Sarah Silverman is the raunchiest female comedian on Twitter, and she is also a political activist. Her tweets during the debate were insightful, and her Youtube videos encouraging young people to vote manage to be laugh-out-loud funny while also accomplishing something important.

@Indecision

Indecision is the official account for Comedy Central’s election coverage. Expect them to be very active during Thursday’s debate.

@PattonOswalt

Patton Oswalt is an extremely popular stand-up comedian and actor, and his debate tweets are unflinching and hysterical.

Twitter is becoming more and more popular as people find different uses for it. Twitter reported that there were about 10.3 million tweets posted during the last debate. If you haven’t already, now is the time to join the discussion. If you’re planning on live-tweeting the next few debates, make sure to use the hashtags #debate, #debate2012, or if you’re poking fun like these comedians are, use #MocktheVote. Also, if you are a Cal State Long Beach student posting about the upcoming election, use our hashtag #49erVote2012. We would love to see what you have to say.
