Letter to the Editor – Grandma’s simple health tips work better than nuclear food washing

Bravo to Kendra Fujino for her insight about E. coli in the April 24 Daily Forty-Niner article, “Salads should leave no afterglow.”

As a public health professional, I think the best advice comes from our grandmothers to wash all fruits and vegetables before you eat them.

Who needs all those chemicals, etc.? Anything that grows in dirt may be exposed to bacteria and we know that it needs to be rinsed down the drain.

Just that simple!
