There may not have been people crammed in the seats like sardines, but no grandstand was empty today.
Qualifiers for the Imperial Capital Bank Atlantic Series, Celebrity/Pro Series, American Le Mans Series and Champ Car Seiers took place this afternoon.
The gates opened at 7 a.m. and a small number of fans came in to watch the practive runs. By the afternoon, some stands looked full while others had just a few spectators.
People watched the races from all angles. Some sat in the stands, others stood in parking garages and a few lucky ones sat on their own balconies that overlook the track.
Stationary spectators could enjoy all the practices and qualifiers from the stands, but fans with a need to move around had plenty of entertainment oppurtunities.
The American Le Mans Series paddock was open to everyone, giving people a chance to see the cars up close between practice and qualifiers.
Inside at the Lifestyle expo people could wander around different vendors. There were race-related things to buy, the Tequila Patron lounge and hot rod golf carts.
For thoses feeling brave there was also a number of inflatable obstacle courses and games to play.
Outside around the track, other vendors and eateries stood to satisfy the craving of every race-fan.
Today’s events drew a sizable crowd but tomorrow’s turnout is expected to be much higher.
