Race fans line the stands on Friday

There may not have been people crammed in the seats like sardines, but no grandstand was empty today.

Qualifiers for the Imperial Capital Bank Atlantic Series, Celebrity/Pro Series, American Le Mans Series and Champ Car Seiers took place this afternoon.

The gates opened at 7 a.m. and a small number of fans came in to watch the practive runs. By the afternoon, some stands looked full while others had just a few spectators.

People watched the races from all angles. Some sat in the stands, others stood in parking garages and a few lucky ones sat on their own balconies that overlook the track.

Stationary spectators could enjoy all the practices and qualifiers from the stands, but fans with a need to move around had plenty of entertainment oppurtunities.

The American Le Mans Series paddock was open to everyone, giving people a chance to see the cars up close between practice and qualifiers.

Inside at the Lifestyle expo people could wander around different vendors. There were race-related things to buy, the Tequila Patron lounge and hot rod golf carts.

For thoses feeling brave there was also a number of inflatable obstacle courses and games to play.

Outside around the track, other vendors and eateries stood to satisfy the craving of every race-fan.

Today’s events drew a sizable crowd but tomorrow’s turnout is expected to be much higher.
