Freshman pitcher selected as finalist for top collegiate softball player
Brooke Turner has been named to the list of 25 finalists for the 2008 Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. Turner is the nation’s leading pitcher in ERA with 0.46 and is 18-4 this season with 13 shutouts.

Basketball
LBSU leads the way in academic honors
Seven LBSU basketball players were named to the 2007-08 Big West Academic All-Conference Team for winter sports. Six women’s basketball players (Courtney Jacob, Kaiti O’Brien, Lakin Saucedo, Lauren Sims, Brett Timmons and Ally Wade) and one men’s basketball player (Chris Peys) earned the honors.
