Find room in your Web surfing for ‘Dorm Life’

If you’ve lived at a dorm and have experienced the fatiguing process of adjusting to your new life as a college student, then you’ll probably be able to relate to the new webisodic series “Dorm Life,” the newest mockumentary that’s promising to remain as authentic as that parent-free ecstasy realized four hours after dropoff.

Already, a handful of episodes since the Feb. 4 online premiere have been getting plays and creating conversation amid college students across the nation.

From what it looks like, the 20-episode program includes a cast of 10 colorful 20-something-year-olds in the search of self-discovery. And that includes a lot of communal commingling, of course.

You have the lovesick pair of Lauren Conrad clones, the tense-filled R.A. who goes off parading naked when it’s talent show time, the philosophical “big teddy bear” guy who hides in denial of his doomed acting potential, and then the casually fun everyday goofball boys and girls who make adventure their minor and practice their “Mean Girls” tendencies every time their food goes missing from the refrigerator.

Adding more to the excitement, the creators/writers/directors (who all happen to be current and former college students) make these mockumentaries high quality and mush things into appropriate four or five-minute doses.

The first handful of episodes have been exceptionally accurate in depicting the nauseating rollercoaster ride living on-campus may be, but let’s see what else these mockumentary characters and storylines this Web series will attempt to represent.

Meet the dudes and chicas from the 5-South dorms on Dorm-Life.com. Their next Web show will premiere Monday.
