The Clinton-Obama drama keeps unfolding. The main characters are like a bad telenovela you can’t take your eyes off. So what’s new in this love fest? A photograph.
This one shows Barack Obama wearing a turban and a white robe that was presented to him on a 2006 visit to Kenya.
Obama is not the first politician to pay respect to a culture by wearing the country’s traditional garb. The Drudge Report also posted photos of George W. Bush, Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton in different traditional gear.
The Clinton camp was quick to say that those pictures were in no way part of a play to smear Obama’s image.
A quick search led to an article that explains how the turban is closely associated with Islam and, well, Osama bin Laden.
I hope people don’t think that Clinton’s team is really involved in distributing the photos. So the guy’s middle name is Hussein and he respects other cultures enough to wear their local clothing. Who cares?
I hope it doesn’t go further because the American public gets bored quickly.
I can imagine John McCain waiting in the background for the telenovela to end so he can jump in and save the day. Or whatever.
