This week in cartoons …

Do you ever get the feeling that you’re an ungrateful person, or find yourself calling your friends ungrateful monkeys?

You know what I’m talking about. The kind of people who will see an old lady drop a bag full of groceries and look the other way, yet will be the first ones to ask for help in any given situation. The kind of people who wouldn’t lend you a helping hand even if it meant being nice just for one day.

Recently, I was having a conversation with a friend of mine. He explained how, after a long vacation, he came back to a desk overflowing with stacks of paperwork. His co-workers saw the pile of papers growing and growing, yet none of them did a thing to help while my friend was out. The old “I scratch your back, you scratch mine” saying went out the window.

This is way too common nowadays, especially amongst college kids.

When was the last time you did a favor for your friend? Yeah, I don’t remember, either. We occupy our mind with school, work and more school and work.

Maybe calling your friends ungrateful monkeys could be a bit harsh, and that could be the reason why they’re not scratching your back.

My friend says he’ll never do another favor for a co-worker.

In the wise words of my papa, “If I can help you I will. If not, I really meant to.”
