As a Chicano/Latino studies student, I believe I am academically prepared to openly listen to Jim Gilchrist.
The Latino/a population on campus needs to step out of the comfort zone, listen to different ideological perspectives and be able to wisely deconstruct them. To quote Jose Moreno, the Chicano and Latino studies professor, about Gilchrist’s invitation to speak: “It is great.”
