This week in cartoons …

Unless you were bathing under a gigantic pool of ice, the intense hot weather of the past few days has been almost unbearable. You actually enjoyed arriving ten minutes early to class just to get that cold breeze coming off air conditioners.

The stuffy weather that we’re complaining about cannot compare to the reality that people all over California had to deal with when wildfires ate up their homes.

If there’s anything positive about this event that disrupted the lives of at least half a million people who had to be evacuated from their home, it’s that the Federal Emergency Management Agency was quick to act on this one.

Rather than say, leave people behind and let them wait on top of their houses while flames grew around them, FEMA learned from Hurricane Katrina and their response was a quick one.

I just have to wonder how Hurricane Katrina victims still suffering the consequences of their natural disaster must feel as they watch helicopters and quick help being sent to the victims of the wildfires while they waited for days for a ray of hope.

My heart goes out there to the evacuated, but I really had to let this one off of my chest.
