I was very disappointed to read your recent editorial “Excluding transgenders shouldn’t stop gay bill” in the Oct. 22 Daily Forty-Niner about the House Bill.
The fact is, transgender people are openly discriminated against in employment and housing on a routine basis. Most of my lesbian and gay friends agree that it’s easier for them to gain employment and keep their sexuality private, as opposed to a transgender person living as the person they were prior to surgery, unless they have managed to change their driver’s license and past employment history.
I believe that none of us are free until all of us are free. “We must all hang together or we will hang separately.”
