As final examinations have ended, attention is now turning to the commencement ceremonies, where approximately 8,150 Cal State Long Beach students will reach an important milestone in their educational careers. As a prelude to this joyous and celebratory week, I want to congratulate our new CSULB graduates for fulfilling their dream of achieving this significant educational and personal accomplishment.
The class of 2007 represents the largest graduating class in the 58-year history of our great university. You should be proud of your own educational achievements as well as those of the friends and colleagues you have helped along the way. Together, you have overcome many academic challenges and personal obstacles. You have also had the opportunity to work with university faculty and staff who are among the best in the nation. Most importantly, however, you have lived, learned and grown together in an environment where your success is the most important objective of our university.
As you prepare for a world that awaits your talents, you might not realize that we have also benefited immensely from your student years at The Beach. Your scholarly and creative achievements, civic leadership and service have impacted not only our university but also local, national and global communities. Your contributions embody what we are today – a national public university dedicated to changing lives for a changing world.
On behalf of the CSULB faculty, staff and our 225,000 alumni, congratulations to our new graduates. We share in the pride of your current and future accomplishments and the fact that you have always understood the message that “Graduation Begins Today.”
Go Beach!
