The Prize Fighter Inferno finishes its first round standing tall

The Prize Fighter Inferno comes out swinging with its debut album “My Brother’s Blood Machine.” The side project of Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez combines folk music with electronica to create a unique sound few bands can duplicate.

From start to finish the album is filled with catchy lyrics and an innovative blend of acoustic and electronic elements. This pairing makes for an easy listening experience that can be put on repeat, because it isn’t something that is heard every day.

Not only is the music itself unique, but the contents of the CD are unique as well. The typical lyric book with pictures of the band has been replaced by tarot cards with the lyrics on them.

The album features 12 tracks of actual music and another 66 spaces between songs. These spaces come before the twelfth song and serve as an effective buffer because the last song is the only fast-paced track on the record and does not have the same feel or sound as the previous 11.

Because the album blends so well together it is not necessary to jump around like other albums. Although some tracks stand out on their own, such as “The Going Price for Home,” “Who Watches the Watchmen?” and “Easter.”

The Prize Fighter Inferno has created an album definitely worth listening to whether you’re a Coheed fan or just looking for something new.
