We may have lost, but at least the band was great

I have no connection to Long Beach State, but having attended the games in Columbus, I wanted to let you know how entertained I was by your band. While your opponent’s band made us suffer through repeated and tired renditions of “Rocky Top,” you guys played contemporary songs with style and flair. I know it was a tough end to the basketball season, but your band definitely won their bracket as well as quite a few new fans. Well done.

Our View on ads right on the mark, ads need to go

With regard to the Our View on windshield advertising that was published in the March 19 issue of the Daily Forty-Niner: Is this form of advertising legal on campus? If it is, why isn’t someone pushing to make it a punishable offense? For that matter, I would love to see one of our political science majors champion the same cause in other public and private areas around town.

I am absolutely sick to death of people coming down my street daily and leaving copious amounts of advertising on my sidewalk, on my driveway, stuck to my fence and gate – even under the wiper of my truck, which is parked on my private property.

The entire concept of leaving advertising on private property without permission should be a punishable offense.
