Viridiana Sanchez, treasurer candidate

Junior business accounting major Viridiana Sanchez said her lack of previous involvement with ASI prior to this year’s election is an asset, but she said that will benefit her if she is chosen as ASI Treasurer.

“I’m not into the politics [or] the drama,” Sanchez said.

She said electing her would allow her to provide something fresh and to help students get the best out of their money. Sanchez said she thinks her experience with organizations on campus would help her as treasurer.

Sanchez said she served two semesters as the vice president of finance of the Cal State Long Beach branch of Delta Sigma Pi, the honor society for students in the College of Business Administration. She said she also served as the student representative on the Board of Appeals for CBA. She also said she is a member of the Associated Business Students Organizations Council (ABSOC).

Sanchez said she is “dedicated to serving the student body by simplifying financial procedures while maintaining clear and [accurate] financial records.”

She said her main concern with ASI is that students are not informed about things that are going on around them. She wants to help students be more informed of what they are paying for and how to access the funds available to them. She also wants students to be able to access information on what grants they qualify for, whether they are from student fees or outside businesses.

Sanchez said she is running for treasurer because she likes being an accounting major and would want to give back to CSULB during her last year as a student here. She said taking the position would allow her to gain experience for the future while serving her fellow students.

“I want to be able to contribute something back to the campus I love,” Sanchez said.
