I have been reading the Daily Forty-Niner for awhile now and I find that the level of source citation is extremely low. When I read an article, I am often frustrated by the inability to verify facts that I believe are wrong or do further study on things I agree with. The level of source citation should at least be equivalent to that of a research paper so that those with the interest can look up what the writer used as his or her source of inspiration for the article.
A second thing I have found to be somewhat frustrating are the opinion articles in this paper. While I understand that these are opinion articles, I believe that the almost complete lack of factual support for the expressed opinions changes that section from an opinion section to a place to ramble on about whatever happens to be annoying the person writing them.
In essence, I believe that you should attempt to cement your articles to the real world with greater factual support and a listing of the sources for these facts, even if that is just a URL to the paper’s Web site where these facts would be stored.
