I have to add to Patrick Creaven’s column on Long Beach State not winning the Big West women’s soccer tournament.
I will have to argue that he single-handedly jinxed the soccer team into losing to Cal Poly. I checked the bracket on Monday, and lo and behold, in spite ofLong Beach State finishing 14-5-1, the 49ers were not anywhere to be seen.
I suggest to the sports editor to avoid speculating on our Long Beach State teams when entering the playoffs as an at-large in the worst case situation because I see this as a jinx in the form of Murphy’s Law.
Some things are better left unsaid.
Creaven simply jinxed our women into losing the tournament, and once again be snubbed by the selection committee. I’m not the one who needs to eat crow here. Creaven, you can have it. Extra crispy. And this Super Fan also requests that you please, please avoid speculating the worse case situations in the future.
Once it is on paper, more often than not, it will happen.
