Letter to the Editor – Reader agrees against tax breaks, except in one case

In response to the article “Religion based tax breaks unfair, wrong” in the Oct. 16 issue of the Daily Forty-Niner, I agree that it seems unfair to allow evangelical/religious organizations certain tax breaks and not give strictly social/philanthropic organizations a break too.

But Pastor Rick Warren’s program’s popularity and congregation size – one of a soundly gospel-oriented service – with no other examples of other certainly more flagrant “ministries,” begs the hate-mongering of the left eye from the get-go.

Tax exemptions are one of the biggest reasons for fraudulent, so-called “churches” which do no one any good. However, the Lake Forest church is not one of them.
